Sensorik: «Durchbruch in der Miniaturisierung von CO2-Sensoren»
23. Mai 2024

Mikroelektronik: «Challenges for Microchip Design»
March 21, 2024
Roman Willi, IMES OST: Power over HDMI2.1
A novel approach to maintaining voltage integrity in optical HDMI data cables over long distances is presented. The approach includes a fully integrated DC-DC converter that can significantly reduce costs in the price-sensitive consumer electronics market.

Dr. Erich Zwyssig Cirrus Logic International: Challenges for Consumer Microchip Design
Designing microchips for the consumer electronics market at the leading edge of low power audio and high-performance mixed signal processing brings a wide range of challenges. In this presentation we will look at two commercially available microchips from Cirrus Logic and the difficulties faced and decisions made when designing these.

Mikroelektronik: «Photon Counting»
February 29, 2024
Dorian Amiet, IMES OST: Time-Correlated Photon Counting
The Time-Correlated Single Photon-Counting (TCSPC) technique measures rapidly changing low level light intensities by detecting and timing single photons in the picosecond range. Existing TCSPC devices face limitations such as dead time, restricted photon count rates, and bulky electronics. Dorian Amiet presents an innovative TCSPC hardware designed at IMES with cutting-edge technologies, offering unprecedented advantages that overcome the current limitations.
Dr. Fridolin Michel, ams OSRAM: Photon Counting CT Detectors for Medical Imaging
Computed Tomography (CT) has emerged as the foremost medical imaging technique in cancer screening, injury detection and cardiac scans. In the field of CT detector technology photon counting is one of the most promising future directions. This talk introduces the photon counting detector technology and elaborates on the topology and design of a CMOS detector chip that serves as the main platform for next generation CT products at ams OSRAM.
