Julian is interested in (more than) evidence synthesis, (other) research designs and methods, evidence-based research and practice, and meta-research (research on research).

He joined the Department of Health at the Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences in 2017 and mainly worked on the AGE-NT and AGE-INT project, both SERI-funded and collaborative projects. His teaching and research topics are evidence syntheses and meta-research. He did his doctoral studies with a focus on dementia care research at the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg, Germany.

Julian co-developed RefHunter, a platform for systematic literature search, and the TARCiS statement that provides guidance on terminology, application, and reporting of citation searching. He is a core team member of the Library of Guidance for Health Scientists (LIGHTS).

He is also a research fellow at the University of Basel and University Hospital Basel (Pragmatic Evidence Lab) where he is mainly working on evidence syntheses and meta-research in medical science.
