Ringvorlesung «Promoting sustainable aging: Music and culture participation as catalysts for sustainable life courses and intergenerational solidarity»

In my previous research project, I have been examining the connections between aging societies, adult education, and sustainable development goals (especially SDG 4). I’ve been intrigued by the idea of sustainable aging (as opposed to “active”, or “successful” aging as individualistic and categorizing concepts) where the ethical notions of care, world-centered thinking and intergenerational solidarity are essential. It also relates to a cumulative understanding of the lifecourse as a continuum of generations and shared responsibility of planetary conditions rather than a linear lifespan view that doesn’t take into account the past, present and future generations. I’ve been examining how music, arts and culture / education can support the idea of sustainable aging.
