We coordinate the extensive expertise and technical-scientific methods of all OST – Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences locations and make them available to you in five key focus areas:
What we do
Water scarcity, flooding, pesticide residues, microplastics, clean drinking water, and digitalization are global challenges. For instance, our water is impacted as it travels from urban areas back to natural bodies, and climate change makes water management between flooding and extreme drought increasingly unpredictable. At the same time, digitalization allows processes to be tracked online and managed intelligently.
Even in Switzerland, known as the water tower of Europe, water scarcity is on the rise. The reserves of snow and ice in the mountains are significantly declining, while rainfall is becoming less frequent but more intense. This results in shifts in water availability and an increase in both high and low water levels. (Source: Natural Sciences Switzerland)
