Watercourse development

Since industrialisation, flowing and still waters have suffered from the consequences of damming, straightening, water extraction, warming, biological invasion and the introduction of substances by humans. The result is a massive reduction in ecological functionality. Natural bodies of water that are in good ecological and chemical condition and provide an attractive habitat for flora and fauna as well as for humans are indispensable today. Protection against natural disasters and safeguarding the natural water cycle also take centre stage.

We are committed to the sustainable and targeted enhancement and design of the landscape and support municipalities and cantons in the planning, development and realisation of open spaces in settlement areas. We would be happy to advise and support you with your project in this diverse area:

Revitalisation and biodiversity

In order to promote the natural functions of watercourses, the water cluster is working to increase the natural dynamics and make the transition areas from water to land more flowing and structurally rich - also with a view to flood protection. The design and maintenance of site-appropriate planting can improve water quality through filtration and remove micropollutants.

  • Revitalisation - reviving bodies of water
    • Renaturalisation - riparian zones, river management, watercourse maintenance
    • Nature conservation
    • Greening
    • Biodiversity
  • Soil protection to protect the natural soil function, in particular preservation of soil fertility and as a natural water reservoir
  • Water protection & pollution - removal of contamination
  • Protection against natural hazards through the application of engineering biology as a combined solution of biodiversity and technology

Basic principles, methods, models, measurements and tools are developed for the planning and implementation of projects in the landscape. The focus is on innovative services and consulting offers.

  • Landscape consulting LEK 2.0
  • Landscape expertise
  • Specialist advice on habitats, connectivity and biodiversity
  • Digital models and landscape analyses
  • Revitalisation of watercourses and lakeshores
  • Accompanying planning for mining and landfill projects
  • Accompanying planning for infrastructure projects such as roads, railways or wind energy

Spatial data (geodata) is made available through geodata infrastructure. We collect and prepare geodata for your project, enabling you to solve location-based problems. We plan and develop your project on the basis of geodata.

  • Geoinformation systems (GIS) - acquisition, processing, organisation, analysis and presentation of spatial data
  • Location intelligence - analysing and processing information taking into account spatial relationships
  • Hydrometry - analysing the water cycle
  • BIM (Building Information Modelling) - software methodology for digital project planning throughout the entire life cycle
  • Spatially explicit needs analysis (municipal and regional)
