Acoustics - The audible energy

The institute developed the possibility of sound power measurements according to EN ISO 9614 and sound pressure measurements in anechoic sound room and in the field from various applications. In addition, developments and optimizations of low-noise machines are competently implemented in cooperation with industrial partners.

Sound power level measurement

The sound power level measurements are carried out in our laboratory and in the field according to the international standards EN ISO 9614-1 and 9614-2. All devices with an electric drive that have constant operating conditions are suitable for this sound measurement method. The big advantage of determining the sound power level is that it does not depend on the location of the sound source or the nature of the measuring environment.

Frequency band analysis

With our sound level meter it is possible to evaluate frequency band analyzes from 10 to 20,000 Hz. The measurement can be made with the sound pressure or the sound intensity. Due to the large resolution of the frequency band analysis, the interference frequency of a machine can be determined more precisely than with the usual third octave band analysis. With our software, harmonic harmonics of a machine can be determined quickly and easily. This allows efficient conclusions to be drawn about the fundamental frequency that forces the harmonics. With the knowledge gained in this way, structure-borne noise transmission in the system can be minimized.

Localized sound generation

Measurements in an anechoic sound room

Thanks to our sound room, acoustic measurements can be carried out at frequencies below 100 Hz without any problems. The noises to be examined can be both narrow and broadband. This room can be used, among other things, to determine the directivity of a sound transmitter, the localization of individual sources of interference on sound-emitting machines and acoustic investigations on relatively quiet noise sources. The internal dimensions of the sound room are 2850 x 2850 x 1800 mm (W x D x H). To carry out a sound power measurement in the sound room, the dimensions of the machine to be measured can be up to 750 x 1500 x 1400 mm.
