Research project
Eco-plaster - plaster mortar made from mineral waste
UMTEC has discovered that a combination of paper ash and selected, finely ground waste materials has very good binder properties. In this innovation project, a binder formulation is being optimised for use as exterior wall plaster.
As part of a preliminary project, a combination of paper ash and other waste materials was found to have very good binding properties. A promising basic formulation was found that consists exclusively of mineral waste and is surprisingly well suited as a mortar for exterior plasters (‘eco-mortar’). In this innovation project, the binder formulation described above is being optimised with regard to the following parameters:
- Setting time
- Adhesion properties on the wall
- Properties as a carrier for the subsequent plaster structure (e.g. finishing plaster or ceramic tiles)
