Entrepreneurial resilience to increase crisis capability
In times of crisis, it becomes clear which companies are resilient, survive the crisis or even use it as an opportunity for something new. Unfortunately, it also becomes clear that many companies fail to do so. The question arises as to what the former do differently or better. The Entrepreneurial Resilience research project addressed precisely this question.
The initial database was created as part of an empirical survey. Potential levers and indicators for corporate resilience were identified. In this context, both internal and external data were taken into account.
The project identified success factors for resilience, e.g. flexibility, speed and redundancy. Cause-and-effect chains were used to analyse the influence of non-financial factors on the financial result. The effects on the bottom line were analysed using defined shock scenarios. The concept of resilience loss quantifies these consequences. The aim is to minimise this resilience loss with the help of suitable measures. Various simulation models were developed in the research project for this purpose.
