The IT landscape of Swiss universities is characterized by a high level of decentralisation and a high degree of proprietary systems. Economies of scale through joint development or the use of the same standard software remain untapped. The project addressed this situation and designed a service-oriented architectural framework to enable the provision of university software as services (SaaS). Especially, the IT division of universities and IT companies can provide their software applications as services to other universities via this framework, thus enabling an easily accessible marketplace for university software.
